Sultan Qaboos University (SQU)

Since its establishment in 1986, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has developed into a prestigious university, offering enlightening programs that meet high standards of quality. The University has become an established centre of knowledge and expertise in fields that relate to Omani culture and national development, as well as a wide range of academic disciplines. The University’s preeminence has been achieved by excellence in the enactment of the University’s four main responsibilities: teaching; research; community engagement; and, cooperation with other Higher Education Institutions in and outside the Sultanate.

The University currently has nine colleges:

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences was established with the issuance of Royal Decree No. 76/2020 AD, which stipulated the establishment of the university and its headquarters in the Governorate of Muscat, and transferred to the University of Technology and Applied Sciences members of the faculty and academy in each of the College of Education in Rustaq and the Faculties of Applied Sciences in the Ministry of Higher Education,  Research and Innovation The Higher College of Technology and the technical colleges of the Ministry of Manpower, with the same employment status and financial allocations, and the employees of these colleges are transferred to them with the same financial degrees. The employees of the General Directorate of Colleges of Applied Sciences in the Ministry of Higher Education,  Research and Innovation and the General Directorate of Technical Education in the Ministry of Manpower shall be transferred to the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, with their same financial degrees, in accordance with the controls set by the Council of Ministers.
